Kanka-bono Girls

Summer reading. Here are some select passages from Kurt Vonnegut's "Galapagos" and Chuck Paluclsdjlsdjoewjcew's "Fight Club"

Galapagos:

"For all the computers and measuring instruments and news gatherers and evaluators and memory banks and libraries and experts on this and that at their disposal, their deaf and blind bellies remained the final judges of how urgent this or that problem, such as the destruction of North America's and Europe's forests by acid rain, say, might really be" (What have you ever cared about after you've eaten dinner?)

"My boy," he said, "you are descended from a long line of determined, resourceful, microscopic tadpoles - champions every one." (This reminds me of a Beavis and Butthead where they show a close up of Beavis's dad's jizz inside Beavis's mom I guess and they have a sperm with Beavis's head on it doing the stupid laugh and making its way into the ovum.)

"No single human being could claim credit for that rocket, which was going to work so perfectly. It was the collective achievement of all who had ever put their big brains to work on the problem of how to capture and compress the diffuse violence of which nature was capable, and drop it in relatively small packages on their enemies."
(Boom. We've made it that simple now)

"Donald was the dog. Robert was the man. And Donald was harmless. He had never bitten anybody. All he wanted was for someone to throw a stick for him, so he could bring it back, so somebody could throw a stick for him, so he could bring it back, and so on." (I love dogs!)

"There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said: "It is just as I feared!
Two owls and a hen,
Four larks and a wren
Have all built their nests in my beard."
- Edward Lear (1812-1888) (Peter Griffin anybody?)

pastiche - an imitation
piquant - having an agreeable or pungent taste; engagingly stimulating or provocative
(new vocab words)

Fight Club:

"All a gun does is focus an explosion in one direction." (Kinda like the Galapagos bomb quote. Frighteningly simple)

"Ride a horse"
"Build a house"
"Get a tattoo"
(What do YOU wish you would have done before you died? I agree with build a house. Maybe "star in a good play")

"This way, when deep-space exploitation ramps up, it will probably be the megatonic corporations that discover all the new planets and map them.
The IBM Stellar Sphere.
The Phillip Morris Galaxy
Planet Denny's
Every planet will take on the corporate identity of whoever rapes it first.
Budweiser World."
(Pacbell Park, SBC Park, AT&T Park, WHERE THE FUCK DOES IT END Park)

"You said, it anyone ever tries to shut down the club, even you, then we have to get him by the nuts.
Gonads.
Jewels.
Testes.
Huevos."

(Hahahaha. I got more names than that)
