Beardy McIdiot

HOO! Today has been a full day. Woke up not so late and went running for about 5 miles then came back and did exercises at home. It was FINALLY a good day to go to the beach, so I went with a couple peeps and brought a soccerball. Apparently that means we have to play with everybody else on the beach who wants to play. Not that that's a bad thing, I love to play soccer with other people. But usually other people who want to play soccer are way better than i am. Embarrassingly better. And it doesn't help when the people who you're playing with are members of the club team, including their past and future Captain. And the guy who's thinking about going to D1. sheeit. it ended up being a great game. kinda got owned, but i had my moments. A couple good passes and a goal. But it was incredibly intense. We played for 2 hours and while it was exhausting i kept up my endurance. I'll be sore in the morning, but good sore. BUT WAIT! Another sore too! Cos I got blood blisters on the bottom of my big toes from all the running today. They're swollen and red and i can feel the blood pulse through them.

Today was a very good day.

Late Night Chemistry

I'm not going to check my math, so you can. If you assume that a spermatozoa is 50 micrometers long and has a uniform diameter of 5 micrometers, how large would a mole of sperm be? That's right. How much space would 6.022x10/\23 sperm cells take up?

I got 472,977,887m/\3 That's a whole lotta cum.

Reproduction final tomorrow..

Sugar Pill

Can you overdose on a placebo? Or rather, can you believe yourself to death? If I gave you a bottle of "sleeping pills" which you used to "commit suicide" would your mind trick itself into permanently tuning out? Perhaps you would slip into a coma. People have done that in the past (I'm looking at you, Buster Bluth). An experiment is in order. Volunteers may be hard to come by, so I'll have to be clever. Failing that, I'll round up the lot of hobos in Anisq' Oyo Park. That's what they get for crashing my parties..

Heartless? You already knew.

The Hardest Button to Button

This will be my first post without my s key. sssssucks. my new s reflex is ctrl+v. it can prove to be annoying on other posts. me? im doing fine. i had a big 3day weekend. lots of fighting and drinking and goofing off. that's the last time that'll happen in a while. i think.

currently im taking 4 classes. 2 bio, 1 spanish, and 1 class about korean americans. the bio classes are fun. i'm going on a bio field trip on saturday to see the elephant seals in cambria. que terrifico. im actually really excited. i get to go frog findin and deer tracking? korean american class is pretty fun too. the teacher is really bright and articulate and actually brings up some interesting topics.

im still working as the events manager at the ticket office. i'm doing alright at it. not great.. i think my boss thinks im bad at my job. well, in my defense, it is a lot of paperwork, which im not so great at. the events are all going great though and the office is running well. i also just applied for a research position, ironically in the same room as the last one. i'd be working with the grad student that i worked alongside last time. he was also the head ta for my vertebrate zoology lab, which was really fun. lots of bird watching. the research focuses on the effects of stress on the immune system of brown-headed cowbirds. so i would be extracting blood, husbanding (?) them, and doing some light work with sheephead fish. all these animals have another animal in their name. odd.

im try to do lots of reading. i just finished jurassic park and it was totally different from the last time i read it (since i biologize now). i just picked up guns germv and steel, but to be honest im not to excited for it. i really want to get 'the selfish gene' by richard dawkins, so i'll probably find it in the library one of these days.

just finished fixing my guitar so my strap locks stay on, my strings are replaced, and my fretboard is polished. im still playing around my my multieffects pedal. it's got a lot of cool features. ive been screwin around with the wah and the tremolo (songs of inspiration 'storm in your teacup' and 'crimson and clover' respectively). and ive been exercising somewhat regularly since school got out for xmas break. so this is all good.
